Probably because plenty of new combat updates are coming up, codex, VFX, economic updates, etc etc etc.

Yup! Mystery solved apparently:

"Players that conquer these new fiends will earn Slayer Trophies, which provide increasing rewards, buffs, and a rare drop of a new two-handed magic ability. As with all Fort Forinthry updates, the Construction skill will play a vital role in continuing the story. Players will build the Guardhouse, which will provide additional buffs for the Slayer skill, which include additional damage bonuses and higher spawn rates for Elite monsters."

Definitely not. They aren't reinventing the wheel. The only things they have talked about are faster Tick, smooth flashy VFX, QoL game engine improvements and infrastructure upgrades. They will be no new combat system. EOC will still be EOC, perhaps with new abilities and animations when we can fire off 2 abilities instead of one in the same duration.

Probably because there will be a greater sonic wave ability codex added in the future. We saw this happen with sunshine and death's swiftness, their icons were changed when they got greater codex.
