How do you turn off this lame event? This is the second time we've had to deal with osrs recycled content

If you are talking about the OSRS League 4 event, which is recycled from OSRS League 2, you can't turn it off in game, but you can choose not to participate. You are also in the wrong forum.

You cannot toggle off the event off vorkath and/ or hero pass.

The best thing you can do is just collect the shards and destroy them.
For the hero pass its matter of trying to ignore the green bar of text you get sadly
