Basic Ability for Necromancy

I am starting necromancy (lv35)) and have a problem with the basic ability not working. I get the message "you cannot use this ability as you have at least as much adrenaline as your target." So I have to manually click on it. Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong?

Do you somehow have the siphon constitution ability queued?

I did have that on my bar, so I took it off. Thank you for the advice.
