- What is the drop rate or approx. XP of the golden cape shards?

- Is it from the rare drop table?

- If our inventory is full, will it be transferred to our bank? It goes into bank when acquired, if inventory is full.

- How long has it took you to get one golden cape shard from skilling/combat? (XP/Kills)

- Does LoTD+ work for this? Apparently not.

I don't know if luck modifiers affect the shards, though there is supposed to be a "bad luck mitigation" that improves your odds as you continue the activity.

It seems to measure according to each action, not to the amount of xp gained with the action. So even an action with minimal xp will count. I've heard people say that activities with higher xp (or more "active" vs AFK) are faster, but I can't confirm that. Didn't seem to make any difference when I tried it.

The average time for a skilling shard seems to be 3-6 hours of the activity. For example, you can expect to spend between 3 and 6 hours mining for the gathering shard. Maybe less if you get lucky.

I can't speak to the time/odds from normal combat since I used the strength platform at the beach to get my combat shard. For the boss shard, I joined in killing the KBD, which took around 320 kills (give or take), which seemed to be the going rate.

Yes, if your inventory is full, it will go to the bank. If both are full, I think it can be collected from the Wise Old Man.

The combat shard should come a lot easier than the skilling ones. It took me 5 to 10 hours to get the skilling shards, perhaps I wasn't lucky there. The combat shard came naturally from a Double Agent on a clue scroll.

Clue scroll shard should be quite easy too, perhaps 50 to 100 steps, or an hour or two treasuure trailing. Sandy clues work equally well too, and we can destroy the tedious ones or those we don't have the requirements for all the time to get easier ones.

Boss shard probably doesn't come from xp. It should roll every time we kill a boss, so I guess we can pick on the Chaos Elemental who really shouldn't be called a boss.

It took me around 1,400 large crystal urchins (with multiple fishing boosts) to attain the gathering golden cape shard.

So, if of matter of fact, it's actions which count and not XP/Kills etc. It seems around 1,000 (give or take) actions is the sweet spot to acquire a shard. (so far)

Currently testing it out with the artisan, doing firemaking to see if this is correct.

It took me about 1.6k corrupted magic logs to attain a golden cape shard for artisan. It kind of adds up to about around 500,000 - 1,000,000 XP somewhat from different shards tasks (about 1,000 - 2,000 actions) Also with the certain amount of actions, there could as well be a time spent factor too, I think. XP could be another factor, however, I'm going by Actions/XP/Kills. :)

The golden cape shard for bosses (marks of war), took me 158 Bandos boss kills. I'm not sure how much XP it was as I didn't take note of it before starting it.

I'm just keeping notes in case anyone else was wondering or has any other insights on this.

I recently found out by trying this out on my own today, the beach event counts towards getting a golden cape shard. It took me around 250k XP to get the support shard, doing dungeoneering AFK training. :)

158 Bandos kills or 320 KBD?
Has Jagex lost it? I was under the impression (apparently mistaken) that games were supposed to be fun. We have to suffer through hundreds of encounters with atrociously dysfunctional game mechanics for the possibility to get a shard?

I get that jagex wants people to try those things, but I don't want to ever see a boss encounter again in my life, specially after wasting all that time trying to get 1 when the game wasn't even giving shards.

I just went and unistalled.
