Hi,
I haven't posted on the forums for many many years, but this update has upset me enough to do so.
I am a casual player that doesn't min/max anything and just plays for fun.
I really liked the daily challenges because they were simple and provided a pretty good reward for popping into the game regularly.
The justification given to implement the new system is to reduce the "extra pressure to log in and play daily through a combination of significant XP hits and free Treasure Hunter Keys - which in turn could provide more XP, increasing pressure further."
For a casual player such as myself, this hasn't reduced the pressure to login, it has simply destroyed one of the main reasons I would login in the first place. Runescape is a grind heavy game and giving players the opportunity for quick rewards is important for keeping them engaged and motivated to log in. I don't want to log in to a job, I want to log into a game. I am also rather stunned Jagex even considered removing the rewards completely (although they have nerfed them enough to make them worthless to me already)
Also, the new system is frankly incomprehensible. The method for completing the daily task is opaque (the point drop seems to be random). The rewards themselves are obviously a massive downgrade from what they used to be and appear to take much longer. Also, I really don't care about all those cosmetics and titles, I would much rather have keys and xp.
Now, most important of all, it feels like a slap in the face that the best rewards for this new system are locked behind this premium membership system. I have been a paying customer for approximately 13 years! I don't care if some people want to pay extra for goodies, but please don't take content away from me to motivate me to pay more (trust me, you are accomplishing quite the opposite).
I know this post will probably have no impact and isn't a very well though out argument, but at least it made me feel better.
Have a nice day.
