I equipped my runecrafting togs, my hood for teleports and all my pouches....everything filled with essence. Off to the water altar. At my RC level (120) I made 518 water runes. Back to the bank.

Same setup but substituted one essence for all my Elemental Anima Stones (3000+). At the water altar I came away with 680 water runes.

Now if the elemental anima stones are supposed to "increase" your carried essence by a factor of 2, one might expect not 680, but over 1000 water runes to be produced.

It seems to me that the doubling is restricted to the individual ess carried in inventory....not to the ess carried in the pouches or the 12 carried in my outfit.

Try it yourself.

This becomes a question of WHEN the multiplier is applied. Are all ess pooled before the runes are crafted THEN the multiplier is applied....or are ess converted is stages: carried ess (with multiplier), pouch ess, outfit ess, then familiar ess.

Your thoughts?

It is +2 to the multiplier. Meaning, every one used will give you 2 more runes. All of my essence activated an anima stone and added 2 runes. 75 total, including pouches and the outfit.

At level 95+, you get a 6x multiplier on your essence for water runes. At level 114, you get a 7x multiplier on your essence for water runes.

At 518 runes made, we can calculate you had 74 essence.

If you use the anima stone, you will be using 73 essence, but add 2 to the multiplier.

This means you can expect 73 x 9 = 657 runes. This is approximately what you received.

Please note that there is a small chance of obtaining more runes than the multipliers at each level, so the calculations may not be 100% correct. However, it does give the correct ball-park result, and you should not be expecting over 1k runes per run.

Meh, I don't plan on using any of them. Just recently got 110 RC and I did Runespan for that and I'll continue to use Runespan until 120. I don't use the stone spirits either. They're just not worth my time or effort.
