The main thing I dislike about the hero pass, and about battle passes in general, is that they dictate the way I'm supposed to play the game. I don't want a set list of things I have to do every day when I log in; I don't want to be encouraged to do other content I have no interest in at the moment.
I almost always have an internal goal set for a play session before I ever log in. Sometimes I just want to relax and spend a few hours woodcutting, or maybe I have a goal to get some fletching levels, but I can't do that if I have to spend hours killing 5 bosses I have no interest in or sinking half a day into a minigame with rewards that aren't relevant to my current goal.
Daily challenges, while they did do this to a degree, were so short that it wasn't really a big deal - I could quickly wrap them up and spend the rest of my time doing the things I actually enjoy doing in Runescape.
I don't always have a ton of time to play, and I'm sure others have far less than I do. I want to make the most of my playtime doing the things I like. This majorly cuts down on burnout for me, and I'm much more likely to stick with the game when I'm accomplishing my own personal goals rather than hitting a certain level in the battle pass.
Ultimately, this change impacts me very little. I'm not one for caring much about cosmetics, so I'm unlikely to purchase a battlepass anyway. I just want to pay my membership, pick up the occasional bond, and play my way - ideally without feeling like my accomplishments are diminished by the ability to quickly pay for more experience. Keys were already pushing it for me personally.
That said, I did want to express a general displeasure. It felt to me like daily challenges were removed and replaced with something worse and with extra steps. I'm genuinely to offer honest feedback and not only be negative. I personally would rather daily challenges have been removed and not replaced with anything. Ideally that dev time could've gone to content.
