This is a warning to all skillers out there regarding Prismatic Stars.

I have just gained direct XP when using the prismatic stars I obtained from Treasure Hunter. The chat box stated bonus XP, but the pop-up congratulating me on a prayer level said otherwise.

I have uploaded an image of the chat box and inventory of when it happened. As it was on mobile, it crashed my RS as I took the screenshot, but I got the relevant information nonetheless. You'll notice that I used prismatic stars as stated in the chat box, and no other star items had been used, nor lamps as they remain in my inventory.

I have reported this via the in-game report feature already. This is merely a warning to those who simply wish to obtain bonus XP and not direct XP in their chosen skills.

I have no problem with prismatic stars either.

From the image posted by OP, it also seems like he gained prayer xp and a level of prayer, used TH and converted a few prizes to oddments, before he obtained a prismatic small star.

Hmm, it's interesting to see that WTFmybacon. I have no idea why this happened to me as I had done nothing different to any other time I had used stars in the past.

Dilbert, this was on mobile so the chat box is inverted. The latest occurrence appears at the top of the chat box, not the bottom.


1. I obtained a prismatic star (and a few others before this one).

2. I converted other prizes to oddments.

3. I used the "all" option on the prismatic stars, which showed the message: "You have been awarded 30,034 Bonus XP in Prayer!"

4. In the same moment, a pop-up appeared, and this appeared in the chat box: "You've just advanced a Prayer level! You have reached level 71."


Clearly no other action was taken as this would have appeared in my chat box, and other items that do give direct XP, such as lamps, are still sitting in my inventory.
