I activated the 7th buff last night before logging off as it doesn't drain the use when not logged in and can still use when you log back in. I logged today to realize I had no membership and I redeemed a bond I had. After logging back into a members world I realized I didn't have the buff I didn't fully use. I don't have my own internet and activated the buff from a Tim Hortons before it closed or I would've went bossing with the buff active.

"If the day ticks over while your buff is still active, you will be able to keep using it for its remaining duration as long as you don't log out or hit the lobby. Doing so will remove your active buff and give you the new day’s choice of buffs."

While you are correct in that being logged out will pause the timer, should you not be logged in when the daily reset happens, you will completely lose the buff anyways.
So yeah, it didn't have a single thing to do with your members running out and being renewed.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
