Frozen in Unwelcome Guests

I am not a member, so I have not done this quest.
However, I have unfortunately experienced this same game freeze at several other places within RuneScape over the past year. For me, it started with the 2022 Beach event. Then it spread to additional locations, including - but not limited to - the Falador lodestone and a spot just west of the Barbarian Village, across from the Body Altar. Entering these areas would instantly freeze the game completely. I would have to X out the client and reload RS.
The only way I have found to prevent such freezing is to play this game in Compatibility Mode. Yes, it is laggy. At times, it is really laggy. However, I do not experience gamefreeze while in CM. If your game is freezing up on you, I would suggest you try switching to CM. It might help you with this quest, then you can switch back to Normal Mode after you have finished the quest, if your game is not freezing elsewhere.
A laggy game is certainly not ideal, but it beats a frozen game.
Yes, I have reported this issue - more than once. I have sent multiple detailed bug reports, for all the good it did. I might as well have opened a window and yelled my findings to the uncaring outside world. The effect would have been identical.
Perhaps I should have reported this issue as a typo. Jagex gets very excited about fixing typos. Game-breaking screen freezes...not so much.
I don't use mobile at all, so I cannot speak to how effective that might be as a workaround. I've been putting out fire with gasoline!
