So unless the h'oodment shop DOESNT get wiped this year and the h'oodments left over DONT get removed at the end of the event, even with the hotfix today there simply isnt enough. 25 from every third pumpkin smashed for a single 1500 cosmetic is 180 pumpkins. thats all the pumpkins ive already smashed since the event started. theres no way the amount of things to get is obtainable in that time frame with the usual way these things work.

end result? i dont give a damn about them then. I DO NOT practice "oh no i gotta work hard to get these" unless it gives me something reasonable to reach for and rewarding to do. working on the 99 necromancy mission in the hero pass right now. why? because having another 99 isnt bad, would make my favorite combat style stronger, and would give me a reason to hunt dinos for days.

70k worth of pumpkin smashing in the timeframe of the event on an ironman with the likelyhood all partial progress will be wiped at the end? ya not even worth bothering to care about.

if you want to include irons and let us have a shot at these things, actually give us a shot and not a big smack to the face that screams "go downgrade so you can get keys"

As stands the only reason im going to bother smashing pumpkins in the first place is the, likely far too low, chance at getting something that makes rituals no longer cost candles to do.

Agreed. I was going to stop doing the events after 250, but now that they've buffed the h'oddment rate a bit I have to continue doing them. I might actually have to buy keys after years of not doing so just to get my multicolored title. They got me. I fell for the fomo.

In case if you haven't read today's hotfix blog:

"Every pumpkin smashed will now provide 25 H'oddments, alongside any other rewards stashed within. This should help Regular and Irons pick up some items from the H'oddments store."

https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/hotfix-update-18th-october-2023#

Let's say you smashed 250 pumpkins in 2 days or 125 in one day, you will be getting 125 x 25 = 3,125 H'oddment per day going forward just from smashing pumpkins.

Let's say you play another 20 days in this year's Halloween events, you will get 3,125 x 20 = 62500 H'oddments just from smashing pumpkins.

62.5k H'oddments are more than enough to buy 1 of the top prize Ability Override from the H'Oddment store for 35k H'oddments. It should not be hard to get 7k more H'oddments to buy the 2 Ability Overrides, even without TH, and don't forget members get 2 TH keys free, Premier Club members get 3, and we can buy 10 TH keys from the Oddments Stores every day.

This year's Hallowen Event is well worth doing, as normal gameplay and hourly participation of the Pumpkin Smashing Flash Event should net us the 2 top prize ability overrides from the H'Oddments Store already.

you COMPLETELY missed the part where i said my pumpkin kill count was 180 BEFORE the hotfix, as in 90 is pushing what my limit is. now remove the freebies for completing missions and parties and you get closer to 60 a day, half what you put.

no, the average player is NOT going to complete this event and when i see something like that it makes me not bother caring at all about it. it was right to remove oddments and up the amounts being dropped, but it still remains the only reason to smash pumpkins at all is the ensouled mask.

oh and BRINGING UP KEYS when i specifically mentioned that this was about the claims to involve irons with the update. youre literally doubling down on the "downgrade and get your keys" motto.

Please show us the math why you don't think average player can complete this event? First of all, nobody is guaranteed to receive all prizes in any RSC/RS2/RS3/OSRS events, and if they just do the Smashing Pumpkin event alone for less than an hour of total play time, they should get at least one Ability Override from the H'Oddments Store for 35k H'Oddments. It is not even like they have to spend 2 months playing 16 hours a day to be on the top 10% to win the top prize.

if they dont remove the h'oodments and dont purge the store at the end, fine. but in the past years that has not been how they do things. and yes the average player, someone who only plays 4-5 hours a day at most, SHOULD be able to complete an event. theres no excuse for requiring someone to invest the same time as a full time job into a game. the moment you spend that much time in a game where you arent being paid to do so you have something wrong with your life that needs fixed.

Who said they are going to remove H'oddments and H'oddments Stores at the end? They didn't in the past, who said they will now?

I only played 5 minutes per Pumpkin Smashing Party for 5 or 6 times a day and got over 100 pumpkins to smash, or 2.5k H'oddments guaranteed from them already. Essentially, I don't even need to play an hour as 5 minutes x 6 = 30 minutes of actual gameplay a day.

they didnt in the past? seems you dont remember or didnt have any to lose, because all my other accounts DID have their h'oodments removed.

I absolutely got my H'oddments from the last 2 years. They sat in my currency pouch all the time. Also confirmed by a Jmod since 2 years ago:

"

The intention is to rerun this promo next year. So yes the H'oddments will remain for players to save them up for other rewards."

Yeah, my h'oddments from last year got carried over to this year.

I only had a couple hundred left over from 2022, but they remained in my currency pouch. The h'oddments I have collected this week only added to that total.
I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^
