So, my biggest issues with hero pass were removal of daily challenges, pay to win and content buffs. As a player whos been on and off for 16 years but active over the last year, ill tell you why these were issues and offer ideas for them going forward.

Firstly daily challenges motivated me to log in every day, and the short amount of time to do these was fine for days where I actually really didn't have time to play. Having the skip tokens also helped with that. Also I was maxed before necro so I could put these dailies in a skill of my choosing to do the content I felt like doing in the next few days. They were quick, easy, and decent xp. The treasure hunter keys were nice, and contributed towards me buying keys. If there was a good promotion like the one where you can add multipliers to your next keys etc. I used oddments and occasionally bought keys. This wouldn't have been the case if I didn't get the 3 keys from daily challenges because I wouldn't have been as motivated to 'finish' the current treasure hunter.

I also felt motivated to log in because of weekly rewards. They were hit and miss and occasionally I couldn't be bothered with them, but sometimes they had stuff I wanted. I want to make the point, if I got burnt out of the game, daily challenges would be the first thing I cut out, and they would absolutely not be a reason for me to log in for that day. In this vein, the hero pass is exactly the same.

So an idea for dailys and hero pass. What if you incorporated the dailies in their current form, and I mean their exact current form (can block skills you are maxed in, get keys, same xp etc.) into the hero pass. You could also include the weekly stuff into the hero pass too. Then have it so that you can EITHER do the hero pass stuff or the daily challenges. Make them mutually exclusive, so you have 3 hero pass dailies and 3 daily challenges. If you complete daily challenge 1, it skips hero pass daily 1 etc. Have them on the same system.

About pay to win. We already have treasure hunter and that feels very borderline pay to win as it is, but content buffs and pvm buffs. I get xp% buffs, but PvM buffs to make a piece of content easier, im very much against. In your post you said it was to encourage new players to do bosses. Then make a weekly spotlight on bosses, or have it so that practice mode does not deplete consumables. As for any content skipping. Look, if you are offering a skip to some of your content as a reward, it's because you know players find it a bother to do. Don't give us skips to that content, instead make that content more fun and engaging.

And then with skips for the hero pass. Look, we get you need to make money. Think of other types of cosmetics, because no-one is going to ever have a problem with you introducing a certain cosmetic that has no in-game benefit except looking good, while charging runecoins for it. The reasoning for having paid skips that you gave was that some people might not have the time to do it. If that is the case you need to re-evaluate where you intend people to get to in it and adjust rewards accordingly. If people are skipping its because its too grindy, or worse, its that unfortunately more than 1% of people that need all the content now and these are sometimes people who have a problem with spending money, who are vulnerable and should be protected. They will skip everything day 1 when by the end of it they needn't have.

Read this latest news post please:

"The Daily Challenge system will be reinstated in full.

We are working on this urgently and may take a couple of weeks to go live.
Daily challenges will return as a standalone system with its prior rewards. This means players can resume daily challenges without engaging with Hero Pass should they wish."

Great news!
