With the price of broken and fragile mementos dropping, maybe Jagex could keep them relevant by implementing a system where we could upgrade them. Maybe we could combine them together, like upgrading spirit gems, or maybe through divination?

On second thought, maybe we can combine them with stone spirits and kill two birds with one stone and get something useful in return

Mementos are similar to bones but give more rewards than bones in rituals.

Do we need to combine smaller bones to make bigger bones? Never! Because we don't need to. Bones are always relevant just like mementos are always relevant.

We can have never ending usage of bones just like we can have never ending new use of mementos. Mementos will be naturally "upgraded" when new use come.

Actually we may not even need suggestions as we are told new "class style" abilities, talent points, skill tree, and ritual are already in the agenda.

All these things require reagents like bones and mementos...

If you do the ritual events, then you end up with 2 extra for every 1 you use. Not done the maths but after 200m it might be faster/less costly to use the lower-level ones to farm ecto with loads of multiply rather than the higher-level ones with less multiply.

For now, everyone is going for max xp, later people will skip the events and go for max speed so the amount in game should stabilise.

We don't just "upgrade" mementos, but as I mentioned we may get more, and perhaps far more usages out of mementos. One such update is already in the radar of the RS3 team:

"We're looking into giving players the ability to transmute Mementos."

Pretty solid and proven idea, especially when we have this transmutation system ever since divination for numerous items.

I have amassed like 100k of each mementos at dirt cheap prices. Do you think I have enough for the next 10 years?

would be interesting, but as said before if your on 500% plus and taking part in all disturbances for every 1 momento you use, you get 1-2 back

Started with 50 powerful momento's after 150 ritutals i now have 78 powerful momentos and around 300 robust momentos probably never use, theres also a cap on the well of souls so once you reach that theres no need for momentos or bones

There is no need to upgrade mementos. It is far more useful to transmute them to different useful items.
