As my favorite skill in all of RS, thieving feels more like a gathering skill than a support skill. I don't necessarily want more ways to train it or to be more profitable, but to instead play a much bigger role in the game or offer more quality of life to everyday activities. One example is stealth which drains run energy even when standing still (and higher agility allows for greater duration). Could be useful in pvp and traveling. Potions, a new magic spell, or and prayer would exist to detect stealth as well as certain monsters based off thieving level. There could also be stealth-related gear which can only be obtained via thieving and has thieving level requirements to wear/use just like crystal armor and weapons requiring agility.

For OSRS, this can also lead to a neutral 4th combat skill (much like Necromancy) called Assassination for a rogue-type of style. It can be the 'jack of all trades, master of none' combat style which combines elements from the other 3 combat styles. An example of this can be throwing a smoke bomb which can only be obtained via assassination contracts relying on thieving requirements to sneak around to complete. There can also be numerous 'hide-outs' scattered throughout the game where these types of contracts can be picked up requiring a certain assassination/thieving level.

If none of the above will do, then I don't know. Anyone got any other ideas?
