With ashes in demand, if you like to do it yourself, here's what I do with Regular Trees for Regular Logs.
Do an Evil Tree. The higher its level the better. The Elder gives a 30 minute buff reward, the Magic is 26 minutes. The buff reward includes automatic banking of the logs you chop, and includes a chance to not deplete the tree you are cutting.
Wear the Seers Headband. It gives you 2 logs per chop on Regular Trees.
Use a hatchet that does not have an augmentation that can burn logs you chop.
Drink a Perfect Juju Woodcutting potion for chances at an extra log. This kicks in only 5% of the time, so is not critical if you don't use it.
Normally, the trees deplete after a single chop. The Evil Tree buff can extend that. The Headband gives double logs. My best so far, that I've counted, is 11 chops on a single tree. That's 22 logs, automatically banked, and that's not including the potential 3rd from the potion.
Now if I could only Invent/Smith a woodstove that I could fill with logs and light, then come back later to claim the ashes!
You can go into your settings for looting, turn off all but the first 3, and further down, herblore items (this is off the top of my head). Now go into the abyss.
If you have the necro tome on you can click the loot custom button that now shows up and it will take only the ashes, straight to the ritual output box. I occasionally manually click on the noted essence. A blood ammy should keep up with your health although I don't go anywhere without Excalibur
This also gives you some combat xp for the talent points. For a step up and if you have premier, turn on 50% porters, take a book of wen and magic notepaper. You can easily break 2k ashes per hour, even in legacy.
Thanks for the log gathering tips!
I'll add mine: Kingdom of Miscellania
Never uses treasure hunter keys. Never buys runecoins or bonds. Never pays extra for 'Premier' status or passes. Never will.
If you are collecting ashes for Necromancy, I like to go into the Abyss in necromancy gear - not only do I train necromancy through combat, but the mobs all drop ashes - and they are fast to kill. For me, Blood Siphon is more than enough to keep me healed up (level 60+ in tank gear I think is when I truly felt safe to stop bringing food), and at a high level the Bloat ability absolutely rips through the things with it's spreading plague features. If that's not enough dps, Spectral Scythe mows right through them. Just equip your Tome of Um and have its auto-banking feature turned on for ashes, and you are good to go.
Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?
