Ok, here is the issue

my account.. ladyolake when i have clean herb and vial in my inventory and i click on the well, i got straight to the screen that allows me to make "unfinished potions". Same with cleaning herbs if i want to clean herbs and i have grimy ones in inventory, i click well and go to clean herbs page.

to continue if i want to put 2nd ingrediant in potion.. i click well and go to that screen.

I never ever have to use the drop down options on the top left side of screen when I have clicked on the portable well.

IN COMPARRISON...

My husband has to click the drop down and choose what he wants to do every single time with the one exception.. when he is making a regular potion and he has unfished potion and 2nd ingrediant both in inventory. That is the only time he does not have to use the drop down menu to choose what to do.

As you can imagine when he is making unfinished potions this is very very annoying. As each time he clicks the well he has to use drop down menu and choose "unfinished potions" option.

There is no "configure" on the portable wells for my account nor his. (which
other portables like fletcher and crafing has a configure option)

We went thru all my settings and made sure his matched exactly to mine so they should do
exactly same thing when doing anything in runescape.

So all I want is to help him figure out how to make unfinished potions like i can with the portable well, without using the drop down menu( i dont have to use it as stated above).

I found some mentions of this in the Reddit archives. The players seem to think it's randomly broken and either works or it doesn't.

Their solution is to only use the portable one time, and then just work from the inventory. From the wiki:

The portable well has a 7x7 area of effect after being used for the first time, meaning the player will receive all of its bonuses while mixing potions from their inventory without needing to click on the well again as long as they are within range. This effect will end when the well disappears or the player clicks on a different portable type.

They have a chart showing that 7x7 range, basically 3 squares in any direction from the portable.

Thank you for taking time to post and give me the information that you did.

I think mixing just in range of that well is what he is gonna do.

Sad that they know its broken but doesnt fix it. It should have a configure option which
might fix the problem for everyone.

That is actully not that good a solution, because if the portable runs out of time and disappears, you usually don't notice it, and you end up just continuing without the benefit of the portable. I always click on the portable every time, so I am sure I get the benefit.

Cleaning herbs with the well does nothing. It is just there for the sake of completion. Just click the herbs in your inventory. There is no difference.

I was using the cleaning herbs as an example. I guess what i should say is this.

No matter what option he wants and no matter that he has the correct ingredients in his backpack, (other than actually making the potions) he must use the drop down on the left
side of the well window and choose what he wants to do each time.

I know that cleaning herbs using well does nothing. But that wasnt really my issue. my issue was him having to use the drop down box every time he wanted to make unfinshed potions.

Ty for your thoughts. And i can see how he could probably not realize the well had dissapeard.

If you ever hear of a fix for this, please let me know.

This is factually incorrect as I've just tested this method and it does not give you the benefits in a 7x7 area, if you aren't going to test things yourself please don't just regurgitate information you saw on Reddit, every inventory used with the well gives me extra potion whereas I tested 10 inventories without after using the first inventory on the portable well and did not receive one single extra potion.

you should also test it, as this is correct you are wrong

basically 3 squares in any direction from the portable.

i am 3 tiles away from the station and the well worked, this was my first invent of 14 sara brews (literally just to test this)

I remember this. From my post it should be clear I did the research and provided the information I found. It might be hard to believe, but yes, I did go in-game and test it.

I would rush in to test it again right now, but the photographic evidence above seems good enough.
