After watching the YouTube videos on Necromancy from influencers, I couldn't be any less excited for a new skill. Who exactly are you trying to target with this unnecessarily complicated combat system?

Would love for you to release stats on how many active accounts engage in regular combat activities.

It is rated G - for Geneal Audiences.

Necromancy is going to be the simplest combat style. Players, the general audiences, are all going to find it easy with emphasis on basic and auto attacks instead of the needs to learn advanced abilities.

Players from other popular MMORPG and ARPG should also find Necromancy something they are familiar with already, especially with all the skill tree and summoner class features.

Usually, we can also look at what content creators from other games/industries a game pays to promote their product to see what audiences they are targeting.

In RS3's case, it is obviously none. They aren't sponsoring any big external content creators and getting them 30-50k concurrent viewers temporarily. They are obviously going to win general audiences over with the quality of Necromancy, without any target marketing.

The other thing is even the few beta testers who have created content for RS3 Necromancy haven't been told much. No worries though, as Necromancy is clamoring toward its release date, more information is being given out to different sources.

For instance, we have learned from Eurogamer yesterday:

"During the preview I was able to complete the first two quests in this new storyline, with the first serving as an introduction to the skill itself and the second instructing me on how to upgrade my Necromancy gear. Both acted as narrative-themed tutorials by grading unveiling different aspects of the skills in a way which prevented me from becoming lost within the mechanics. Eventually you’ll find yourself facing the two new bosses - Hermod and Rasial himself - who are also being released alongside Necromancy.

The way the lore of Necromancy is interwoven with the act of performing the skill itself reminds me of how the Archaeology skill grants you insight into RuneScape 3’s lore through the mysteries you solve and the artefacts you uncover. Yet while Archaeology is, unsurprisingly, more focused on past events, Necromancy thrusts you into the forefront of the storyline ensuring you feel like an active participant in the narrative. In doing so, it gives players who are invested in the stories RuneScape 3 tells another reason to train this new skill."

This Eurogamer editor, who also happens to be a veteran Runesaper player, and of course well versed in a lot of other games too, has given us a preview of how we are going to learn combat in Necrmancy - the first 2 quests will not only be story telling like Archaeology, but also serve as very easy to learn tutorials for the new combat style. :)

Obviously, with over 57k peak concurrent RS3 players today or 151% of last Monday's number which was also on DXP, there are plenty of players excited for Necromancy.

We don't know how many accounts engaged in regular combat activities, but so far we have seen more than 73k players with level 15 Necromancy in just half a day, we know a lot of players are not just excited for, but also learned and leveled to the Hiscores level already.

"Players will enter Gielinor’s underworld – the City of Um – to commune and free the undead. Wielding a Death Guard and Skull Lantern, players will battle fearsome enemies throughout Gielinor and the underworld, perfecting their Necromancy combat, Rituals, and Runecrafting skills. Necromancy is designed to be straightforward to learn and rewarding to master for combat experts, as well as returning and new players."

With the official Runescape Necromancy Press Release statement, Necromancy is designed to be straightforward to learn and rewarding to master for combat experts, as well as returning and new player.

So simply put, it is pretty much a new skill as well as the 4th ever combat style for every one, including new players.

Congrats for hitting level 69 Necromancy in 2 days already, OP, even when you couldn't be less excited for it and think it is complicated. :)

The majority of people including myself are training through rituals. Not actual combat because EoC is garbage. The “skilling” side of Necromancy has far more appeal than the actual combat side of a combat skill.

RItuals are part of the new skill too. If you are happy to train Necromancy through Ritual so be it.

How do you know the majority of people including yourself are training through rituals? If you have the official numbers please show them instead of asking Jagex for them.

Several days into the release of Necromancy and we actually didn't see Jagex spending anything to advertise it, let alone target any audience. It is actually kind of weird, although the tangible results and engagements speak for themselves even without target advertisement.

Well, perhaps Necromancy advertises itself and target Necromancy loving consumers already. Necromancy is in season. The most touted game now, Baldur's Gate 3 is based on the storytelling of the Necromancy of Thay and also features commuting with the undead instead of enslaving them, and about a month ago another very popular story telling MMORPG, Elder Scrolls Online, rolled with the Necrom expansion.

its faster xp thats why its being used to train.

i was doing 2.2m xp ph on average

has nothing to do with "eoc being garbage" thats an odd thing to say.

however you are only 72 necromancy you shouldnt be training with rituals. rituals are not great xp until 90+ before then you need to utilise combat to train it.
200m all RS3 on 7/3/19
1.2Billion overall Slayer xp / Ultimate slayer title

OSRS 2277/2277 Untrim slayer cape
Hail Satan, He loves for who you are.
