I bought a bond to summon Vic the trader thinking I'd trade some BXP in for some skills I'm trying to finish off. So I had a total of 40m BXP tied up in some skills I've already got to 120, so I traded it all in and bought stars. I traded 40m BXP for 3m BSP. How is that a thing? that's not even a 1:10 trade-in. Get it together Jagex. Give me my bond back.

Did you not research it beforehand?

There are diminishing returns on the amount of XP traded in. The more you trade in, the fewer points you get per XP after a certain point. It even tells you how many points you will get per trade in, so it shouldn't come as a surprise after you have sold your XP.

Like all shops in RuneScape, the cost to buy is more than the amount you get when you sell, so you were always going to be worse off.

Yes, a 1:13 ratio is very unbalanced, but this must be because you have traded a lot of XP from the same skill or two.

In addition to the amount of xp coming off of skills being diminishing returns depending on how much you are pulling off of a single skill at a time, the amount of xp going back onto other skills is scaled to be comparable to the level of the skill receiving said xp.

40m xp is "not a lot" for a 120 skill (145m is what, level 124 equivalent or something like that?) however it is an absolutely insane amount of xp for a skill starting at level 1 for example - my math may be off, but I believe that level 1 (0 xp) to 40m xp brings you to about level 110... Just as lamps/stars give more exp for the same item at higher levels than for low, the same will be for Vic the Trader
Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?

All businesses are "scam" in that sense. That's why consumers are always presented and advised to read the description of the product(s) before they purchase.... even in virtual worlds where the currencies and products have no values to be "scammed" of at all.

Regardless it is the real world, or it is fantasy, trades are most of the time "unfair". What do you want? Bring back the 2008 Fair Trade, but this actually means bring back JUNK. :D
