So I came back to runescape. Again. Darn I can't keep away. So anyways I came back to find that while the clan still exists I'm the only member who still plays. Everyone else has quit. And I mean everyone, not a soul has logged in yet since I've returned. Anyhow the question is how do I take over leadership? I'm a coordinator so I can pretty much run the clan anyway but it's a pain trying to bring it back to life. Is there a system in place to allow taking over ownership if the current owner peaces out? And if so how do I start the process?

If you were ranked as a deputy owner, I would suggest seeing if your clan fit the criteria on the Inactive Clan Leaders sticky .

As you are the only active member, its probably time to consider joining another clan or starting your own. You might also take a look at the 'Looking for Founders?' sticky, as players wanting to start new clans post there to find founders and would love to have someone with previous clan experience to help get them started.

Is there really no option to save the clan due to me not being a higher rank? I'd imagine in a case where there is only a single active member left the rank should no longer matter, since the rank requirement would just be there to avoid someone taking over while there is someone higher up the food chain still available. It's a 10 year old clan it'd really be a shame to see it lost ;(

Hi Larry,

Your clan leader has been active in the last 6 months, so regardless of your rank, you wouldn't fit the criteria for an inactive leader. 4 people have been active in the last month, and 7 since January, which isn't great but still gives a glimmer of hope.

If you really are the only one around at the times you play, then even if its been around for 10 years, is it really worth staying? alternatively, you could recruit into the clan during your time zone and build up some clan mates in the hopes that the leader will appear at some point.

Wow how can you find out when they were last active that's super awesome. When you say in the last 6 months though... Is that like 5 months ago was the last time he appeared? Because if that's the case I guess I won't have to wait much longer just a few weeks. No big deal. Thanks for the information!

To qualify for Inactive Leader removal your clan owner must have been inactive for 12 months, not 6, so you will have a while longer to wait sadly.

Your RuneMetics profile (Link shows when your cursor hovers of your display name to the left of your posts) shows what clan you are in. Clicking that shows the clan's page, which shows the members and ranks. Doing a RuneMetics search on the clan owner or other members, provided they do not have privacy settings enabled, shows their most recent achievements, which can give you an idea of when they were last active. It's not as accurate as Mod Matthe's tools, but it can give you a general idea.
