Ok so I started my own clan a couple weeks ago and everything is going ok. But I'm having a bit of a problem with gaining members. And i have a few general questions.

So question one is what are some of your methods of recruiting?

Cookie cutter recruiting type posts on the forums yes or no?

Do you do clan meetings?
What do you discuss?
Is it with the whole clan or just higher ranks?

Edit: I'm also still lokking for a deputy owner... any good place to find one?

Also any general advice is appreciated!

Hi there Fates. good questions. I've given my answers below but always remember that what works for one person won't necessarily work for everyone .

what are some of your methods of recruiting?
I love the forums, you will see me posting my clan details there often. We don't have a clan forum page itself, because I like to tailor the people we recruit rather than have people stumble across us. We might also recruit friends of clan mates by recommendation.

Cookie cutter recruiting type posts on the forums yes or no?
No. Some copy/pasting is fine because you want to make sure you get all the important information across. But make sure with that that you tailor your response to what they ask - have you answered their questions, do you meet their requirements. Don't post on every thread, only those of the people you think will actually fit with your clan

Do you do clan meetings?
We have had clan meetings but not often . Couldn't tell you when we had one last
What do you discuss?
When we do have a meeting we usually have a specific reason to - we discussed changing ( relaxing) some clan rules. But we also have time for any questions or comments from clan mates too. Nothing is off the table.
Is it with the whole clan or just higher ranks?
Higher ranks have much more frequent meetings, usually to discuss new clan ranks, clear inactives. talk about rule enforcement, things to watch out for and to make sure the ranks feel supported. We are a relaxed clan, and don't usually organise events, when we do, its done through word of mouth and clan forums posts.

? Within your clan is the best place to find one. Ask if anyone would like to take on extra responsibilites- but make it clear from the start what their role and responsibilities will be.Loyalty and respect are hugely important in both directions.

As to general advice - don't try to do everything yourself. Find good people to help you with the clan, make it somewhere they want to be, and be open to ideas for improvement.

Always be clear about what you expect from the clan, and what they can expect from you. Have clear rules and enforce them. Some things are not to be pushed, and people knowing the boundaries can only help in the long term.

If you ever want any more specific advice, or just a chat to blow off the stresses of running a clan , my pm is always on

Wishing you the best of luck

Kera

Thanks for the response! I'll address each point this one first though. No one wants the job and alot of them are inexperienced in regards to clan maintenance ( if you can call it that).

Cookie Cutter- I agree with this I wanted to see if more people were of the same opinion most of what I see when I recruit for this and past clans I've help run, alot of the people posting on those threads are the generic type thing.

Clan Meetings - I have an interest in them some what I'm not sure others do and don't want to add something that may turn away recruits. My plan how ever is to have my overseers and up discuss ranking when it comes to it and they know this and like the idea.

As far as doing everything myself I have setup alot of the structure myself (which was fine) but I'm always open to advice or improvements. They seem to be trying to recruit though.
