Hi all,

I recently made a thread (post) and stickied it in my clan's forum. Was able to edit it fine once, the first time. But then something odd happened: every subsequent time I try to make an edit, the "Post Reply" button resulted in the edit page refreshing and displaying the original text, dropping any changes.

I've tried several approaches with no success:
- Attempted in multiple browsers, so know that this won't be solved by clearing the cache.
- Verified that character count was under 2000.
- Waited several hours in case there is a timer lockout. At this point, the last edited stamp says 3 hours ago.
- Unstickied the thread.

Any advice on how to fix this? Thank you!

Hi,

The forums used on Clan Pages are very buggy and haven't been updated in a very long time. Within the last few years, several features on them have broken completely. So, using those forums can be a struggle at times.

From what you've said you're experiencing, it seems like the character limit has been reached. The character count is one feature that no longer works on Clan Forums, so it isn't easy to tell when the limit has been reached. The counter does not count down, and the post will let you type forever as it doesn't cut you off at the maximum. Also, it doesn't always allow the 2000 character maximum as it will sometimes cut you off somewhere below it. (This amount isn't known.)

Keep in mind that the character count includes BBcodes, spaces, and blank lines, so an entry of " Clan Forum " counts as 25 characters rather than 11 because it gets typed out like this: Clan Forum

If you remove information from the post, will it allow you to update it? Attempting to cut the characters down in your post should fix the problem.

Another thing to keep in mind about Clan Forums is that all threads that you plan to permanently keep on your Clan Page should be stickied. Threads that aren't stickied will be automatically deleted after 14 days of no new posts or edits while stickied threads will remain indefinitely. There is a maximum of 5 for the amount of threads that may be stickied though.
